Professor Louise Rose, RN, PhD is a Professor of Critical Care Nursing at King’s College London and an honorary Professor in Critical Care at the Lane Fox Respiratory Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
Prior to joining King’s she was an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, and remains the Research Director of the Prolonged Ventilation Weaning Centre in Toronto.
Her research program focuses on improving outcomes and the healthcare experience of mechanically ventilated patients across the care continuum from the emergency department, intensive care unit, specialised weaning centre, and in the home.
She also has extensive clinical experience in intensive care in four countries and has set up a Masters in Critical Care Nursing at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
During the pandemic, Prof Rose co-founded Life Lines – a philanthropic initiative that provided over 1,400 4G enabled tablets with a bespoke ICU virtual visiting solution to over 180 NHS hospitals.
