Only 34% of the UK population have a regular exercise habit and 26% have no relationship with exercise. The majority, 39% (17.9m people), could build a regular exercise habit, if only it was easier.
These people have a lot of intention to take part in sport, fitness or other physical activity but they face challenges that stop them from exercising regularly: it’s hard to build a habit, it’s often a hassle and there is no visibility over the activities available in a certain area.
Technology can transform how we find, book, share and benefit from physical activity.
That’s why Sport England is supporting the ODI to enable digital transformation in the sport & physical activity sector – and related industries.
This 6-month accelerator will provide up to 10 startups with funding, office space, training and mentorship support; giving access to the ODI, Sport England and external partner networks, as well as providing access to open opportunity data from OpenActive members that has been made available for the first time.
We are looking for organisations interested in sponsoring this innovation programme, both financially and via services in-kind.
In return, you will gain tremendous insight into startups’ ideas and their potential usefulness to your own organisation, capitalising on development of new disruptive products and technology trends in your market.
