Howard Askew
Senior Data Technologist
Howard Askew is a Senior Data Technologist at the ODI, with a focus on data engineering and data science. He is an enthusiastic champion of data literacy and the smart, ethical use of data and technology to drive positive changes.
A data and analytics specialist, he has worked across the data disciplines for 20 years, mostly in the public sector. He helped to build the data and analytics capability for a UK government agency, with roles in Data Strategy and Data Governance, and hands-on leading teams in Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. In projects for Ordnance Survey and the Geospatial Commission, he focussed on geospatial data, and improving data discoverability across government.
Outside of data, he is a keen musician, and loves travel, walking his dogs, and wildlife. He has a degree in Zoology and a masters in Policy Analysis and Evaluation.
Howard likes to explore the extremes of remote working - having spent 3 years living and working from a motorhome around Europe and the UK.
