Head of Research
Gefion holds a MSc and PhD in Web Science, and a BA in cultural sciences. She has always worked interdisciplinary, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. What connects all her academic work is the focus on the people, data and technology, and the desire to enable inclusive engagement wherever people use technology to achieve goals together.
At the ODI, she is responsible for scoping, selling and delivering the ODI’s research, support the Director of Research (Elena Simperl) with the line management of the research team, and lead on building an internal community of practice around research methods and toolkits, research quality assurance, research integrity, and research data management.
Before joining the ODI, she was a Research Fellow at King's College London, where she is the technical and scientific coordinator of the IMPETUS project, providing resources, support, and recognition for citizen science initiatives across Europe, and a great environment for research into participatory data. She has worked on many other data-focused projects in her career, such as Data Springboard, MediaFutures, and Data Pitch.
