This project is working in partnership with public services, businesses, think tanks and consumer groups to prototype and disseminate new models of gathering and using data in the peer-to-peer accommodation sector.

We are developing prototypes to show how data could be used to make the peer-to-peer economy better. For example, using data to inform debate, and crowdsourcing data to enhance trust and confidence in platforms.

The project is gathering evidence about how standards are currently created and maintained; understanding the needs of data standards creators; and encouraging standards bodies to move to open.

This work is part of a three-year innovation programme, running to March 2020 with a funding profile of £2m each year from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.

The work is helping the UK to build on its established strengths in data and data analytics, breaking new ground in creating value from data, and helping to ensure that the UK remains at the forefront of data innovation globally.
