Konrad Kollnig

Konrad Kollnig is an associate professor at Maastricht University's Law & Tech Lab (Faculty of Law), one of the few computer scientists working inside a law faculty (PhD, Oxford). He measures what apps and AI actually do with our data – and whether the laws that govern them work in practice. He leads the Comp4Good research initiative, an interdisciplinary team focused on auditing AI and other digital systems. His studies of hidden tracking and consent across two million Android and iOS apps won the Council of Europe's Stefano Rodotà Award and underpin privacy tools used by millions. He is the author of The App Economy (Bristol University Press, 2026, free & open access) and has been a mobile app developer for fifteen years.
