Former ODI staff member: Researcher
Katie worked as a researcher on the Data Institutions Team at the ODI. Her work explored the ways in which bottom up data stewardship can help tackle the climate crisis.
She is passionate about data ethics, how data impacts societies, and how responsible data stewardship can help improve equity and justice. She enjoyed working on projects at the ODI that allowed her to apply qualitative research methods and explore tangible solutions to global problems.
Prior to joining the ODI in September 2021, Katie was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda working in maternal and child health, and malaria control. She also has experience working in food manufacturing as a cheese maker and quality assurance specialist, as well as a background in small-scale agriculture.
Katie has a BSc in Food Science from Washington State University, and an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In her free time she can be found out swing dancing, starting too many craft projects and perusing the local bookstore for yet another novel to add to her TBR pile. She is on the constant lookout for London's best chocolate brownie, she will let you know when she finds it.
