James Madden
James is a data governance professional at PwC, helping organisations manage and use data effectively. With a background in social science, he has a particular interest in how the use and misuse of data can shape our lives.
James works within PwC’s risk service line, helping commercial and government clients manage technological change and data. A key part of his role involves navigating the ethical challenges that arise in data governance, ensuring organisations balance innovation with responsible and transparent data use.
Prior to this, James studied Applied Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield, where he developed a strong interest in how data influences decision making, policy, and everyday life. He was particularly interested in how data can be manipulated to misrepresent reality, shaping and twisting our world in often harmful ways. Lies, damned lies, and statistics, in other words.
