Areeq Chowdhury
Senior Consultant (Policy)
Areeq Chowdhury is a Senior Consultant (Policy) at the Open Data Institute. He is an experienced public policy adviser who has spent more than a decade working on issues related to artificial intelligence, data, and digital democracy.
He has worked across government, financial services, and politics - including roles in the UK Civil Service, the House of Commons, and KPMG. He was previously Head of Policy (Data and Digital Technologies) at the Royal Society and was the director of WebRoots Democracy, a think tank focused on progressive and inclusive technology policy.
Areeq holds a BSc in Economics and Political Science from the University of Birmingham. From 2022 to 2026, he was served as an elected Local Councillor in the London Borough of Newham and as a member of Newham Council's Audit and Governance Committee.
