Janis Wong is an interdisciplinary PhD researcher in Computer Science at the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy (CRISP), University of St Andrews. She is interested in the legal and technological applications in data protection, privacy, and data ethics. Her PhD research aims to create a socio-technical data commons framework that helps data subjects protect their personal data under existing data protection, privacy, and information regulations. She holds degrees in Law from the London School of Economics and Computer Science from St Andrews.
Janis was a 2020-2021 Research Fellow alongside Sue Chadwick, and worked on data ethics and governance for online learning. She was supported by Dr Mahlet (Milly) Zimeta (Head of Public Policy) and Olivier Thereaux (Head of Research and Development).
