In this session they will share the process of establishing a governance framework; an evidence based, and collaboratively designed staff use policy; risk framework; and a public position on the use of AI in grant making processes.
This session is designed to share learnings, and support others beginning to develop AI policies and practices in their own organisations.

Dr Oonagh Murphy is based within the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, where her research focuses on the scalability or emerging technologies for museums, galleries and cultural organisations. For the past 12 months she has been working with Arts Council England as Responsible AI Fellow (a post funded through BRAID and the AHRC). She is an Open Data Institute accredited Data Ethics Facilitator and Data Ethics Professional, Member of the DCMS College of Experts, Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Churchill Fellow.
Owen Hopkin – Director, New Technologies & Innovation, Arts Council England
As Director of New Technologies and Innovation at Arts Council England, Owen supports the use of new technologies, the distribution and business models of digital content, as well as digital and data skills in the arts and culture sector. He joined Arts Council England from The Space where he was Head of Audience Development and Distribution, working on over 70 commissions across a range of artforms. Before The Space, he was a Marketing Manager at Amazon in the Video Games category, where he was responsible for developing the customer base and revenue-generating strategies. Prior to that, Owen was at Global Radio, managing the digital properties of some of the UK's biggest media brands. He began his professional career as a musician, touring internationally and recording. His work as a musician continues with Far From Saints, the chart-topping UK/US collective.
Dr Kay Achenbach, Data Trainer at the ODI
Kay is a Data Trainer on the ODI's Learning Team. With a PhD in geology, Kay has extensive experience collecting, cleaning and analysing geospatial data, and she worked for 3 years as a postdoctoral researcher in geophysics and Durham University.
Prior to joining the ODI, she worked for over a decade teaching physics and geology in secondary schools and sixth form, where she developed a strong interest in the use of data in the education sector.
A data enthusiast, Kay now supports the ODI's delivery of programmes to enable professionals to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to use data more effectively.
