The ODI’s response to this call focuses on the reusable but potentially restricted nature of data, and how this is affecting firm behaviour, competition, and consumer surplus in the provision of online marketplaces, social media, and other digital services.
We discuss the benefits that can be generated through enabling better matching between consumers and suppliers, and suggest ways in which more social and economic benefits can be created with better data infrastructure.
