In August 2020, Ofcom, the UK's communications services regulator, invited responses to its consultation on Open Communications – a data portability initiative that would enable people and businesses to share data about their use of telecoms services, held by their providers, with third parties who could help them navigate the market and get a better deal.
In September 2020, the Open Data Institute (ODI) published a report exploring the potential for such an initiative, which includes findings from a workshop as well as some initial thinking.
