In this special edition of the Inside Business podcast, Stuart Coleman, Director of Learning and Business Development at the Open Data Institute (ODI) speaks exclusively to Fiona James, the new Chief Data Officer and Director of Data Growth and Operations at the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
ONS demonstrated its value throughout the pandemic by being the single source of truth about Covid-19, and is now building on that success with the roll out of the Integrated Data Service. This is a new platform that aims to link the data across the major government departments which can then be accessed securely by researchers and analysts (including accredited businesses) to inform decision making.
However, as Fiona goes on to say, ONS would also like more businesses to follow the lead of supermarkets like the Co-op and to share their data with the ONS, so that everyone can benefit from the insights into the economy that would bring.
If your business is interested in exploring the value it could get from sharing its data, get in touch with Fiona directly at [email protected]
