In May 2020, Ofwat, the economic regulator of the water sector in England and Wales, sought views on outstanding policy issues, and on its exploration of options for the detailed design and implementation of innovation funding and competition.
This followed Ofwat's explanation of its decision to provide up to £200m of additional funding available for the next regulatory period (2020–2025) for innovation in the water sector.
