Big questions for big tech
Big tech has the potential to help us tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges, but it can also have harmful or unpredictable impacts on those same areas. Big tech’s impact – positive or negative – is not confined to any one country or sector, meaning policymakers may need to take a new kind of approach.
How can the UK’s policy response navigate this uncharted territory? And how can policymakers bring diverse communities and industries with them?
How might sectors and ecosystems need to evolve? And what partnerships, roles, skills and capacities will be need to do this?
Where can the UK develop or exercise its international leadership? And where is international cooperation urgently needed?
And, what does big tech need from policymakers so that it can fulfil its positive potential in economy and society?
