Friday lunchtime lecture: Rob's comedy bots

Friday 06 October 2017, 1:00pm - 1:00pm

Open Data Institute, 65 Clifton Street, London, EC2A 4JE

Friday lunchtime lectures are for everyone and are free to attend. You bring your lunch, we provide tea and coffee, an interesting talk, and enough time to get back to your desk.

Rob Manuel has made lots of 'stupid' bots for fun. There's ClickbaitRobot that writes silly parodies of the output of content sites and Swear Clock – a significant advance in both swearing and time telling, according to Rob.

The point of these things is really entertaining himself (and hopefully others) and playing with language and comedy.

Rob will show you how it works and make you want to make your own horrible bots since, as Rob says, frankly it's more fun than doing anything you're meant to be spending your time doing.

About the speaker

Rob Manuel co-founded B3ta which was pretty influential 'if you like that sort of thing', edited UsVsTh3m which was responsible for ruining the internet by making content sites go mad for quizzes and generally is an old man of the internet.
