OpenActive Project Coordinator
Location: Shoreditch, London
Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Fixed term contract until December 2020
The Open Data Institute is looking for a passionate Project Coordinator to help deliver an exciting new programme of work.
About the ODI
The Open Data Institute (ODI) was co-founded by two visionary leaders: Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web, and Sir Nigel Shadbolt, renowned AI professor. Our mission is to build a strong, fair and sustainable data economy, by helping businesses and governments get data to people who need it. We help our partners to inform decisions, drive efficiencies and create opportunities using data.
The ODI works with governments, NGOs and commercial enterprises all over the world. We deliver advisory, training and research and development services, encompassing public policy, business strategy and technology. Our programme of work is busy and constantly changing. We are committed to producing work at a very high standard and delivering measurable value to our partners and clients.
In partnership with Sport England, the ODI is stewarding the OpenActive initiative which has begun to challenge inactivity in England and change this for the better. We have brought together a fragmented sector, to agree on common standards and to openly publish opportunity data. This programme, the ODI’s largest sector programme, is delivering the joint vision of Sport England and the Open Data Institute: to get people active using data.
You will be supporting the OpenActive initiative, an exciting programme that aims to make it as easy to book a badminton court as it is to book a hotel room. This is an opportunity to build your experience working in a fast-paced project delivery environment at the cutting edge of public and private sector data technology, policy and innovation.
About the role
We are seeking a Project Coordinator who is comfortable in a fast paced, collaborative and flexible environment.
You will work directly with the OpenActive Delivery Manager, helping to organise the team and keep projects on track. You will monitor project activities and schedules, organise/deliver team meetings, and ensure that we communicate our progress outside of the team.
There is scope for this role to evolve, with potential paths for future growth in project management, consulting, policy, research and training in the organisation.
With an organised, enthusiastic and robust approach, you must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and experience that will enable you to:
- Ensure effective and efficient administrative support
- Assist in the management of projects
- Provide support via a range of activities to ensure the effective running of programme support systems, facilities and events
- Helping the Delivery Manager ensure work is delivered to agreed goals, on time and on budget
- Actively helping the team set delivery priorities through sprint planning sessions
- Organising and supporting team meetings, including documenting and following up on important actions and decisions
- Maintaining project documentation, including plans and reports;
- Communicating project progress to team members and other stakeholders
- Tracking and communicating project risks and opportunities.
- Providing administrative support
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities eg. retrospectives and quality reviews, participating in optimising project processes.
- Liaising with contractors
- Handling incoming queries to the team
About you – skills, knowledge and experience
- You have a good understanding of, and experience with, project planning process and a range of IT systems.
- You are a confident communicator whose written and verbal skills can easily be adapted to suit the needs of colleagues and clients.
- You enjoy collaborative working, flexible structures and an open office environment.
- You have the ability to work effectively under pressure and to short deadlines.
- You have the ability to multi-task and move quickly between projects through effective prioritisation.
- You are organised and with excellent attention to detail.
- You care about the mission and goals of OpenActive and the ODI.
- Experience of working in a project or programme environment
- Experience of working in a client-facing role
- Experience of working in the public sector and/or with SMEs and start-ups.
